Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is one of the five most widely produced and utilized general-purpose thermoplastic resins globally. Depending on whether plasticizers are added during processing, PVC is classified into rigid polyvinyl chloride (PVC-U) and flexible polyvinyl chloride (PVC-P). PVC boasts excellent flame retardancy, chemical resistance, mechanical strength, and electrical insulation properties, making it extensively used in building materials, piping, architectural profiles, medical packaging, wires and cables, and artificial leather, among other applications.
