National standards for recycled PET are being implemented intensively and green compliance sets a hard line for export enterprises

Starting from February 1, 2026, 9 national standards related to recycled plastics will be officially implemented, many of which directly involve PET materials, covering key aspects such as recyclable design, recycled plastic product quality, ingredient identification, and product evaluation. It is worth noting that the introduction of standards such as the "Guidelines for Plastic Recyclable Design Part 1: Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) Materials" (GB/T 46020.1-2025) has set unified standards for the recyclability of PET products from the source, providing technical basis for domestic enterprises to meet international environmental requirements.
While accelerating the matching of technical standards, the industry is also breaking through to higher levels of chemical recycling. The total annual production of native PET worldwide exceeds 85 million tons, with a comprehensive waste rate of about 40% for all categories. Traditional physical recycling can only be downgraded and reused. In 2026, Changhua Chemical will promote the pilot testing of a new PET low-temperature depolymerization technology, which can achieve efficient depolymerization of PET waste at 90-130 ℃ and almost atmospheric pressure conditions. The purity of the depolymerized product reaches 99.9%, meeting the primary grade standard. At the same time, the national level has issued a plan to develop the "Technical Specification for Production of Plastic Recycled Plastics Part 2: Chemical Recycling of Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) Cracking Method" standard, providing institutional guarantees for industrial application.
Industry trend: The improvement of the national standard system for recycled PET means that domestic environmental compliance has shifted from "enterprise self selection actions" to "industry mandatory requirements". For export enterprises, whether they have the ability to produce recycled PET products that meet both international and domestic requirements will directly affect their access to overseas markets.
